Do I need to buy a SIM card to track with Tractive GPS?
All Tractive GPS trackers include a built-in (non-replaceable) SIM card that is compatible with multiple mobile networks in every country where Tractive operates. So there is no need to buy a SIM card for the Tractive GPS tracker. Simply activate the device in the Tractive GPS mobile or web app and start tracking with the Tractive GPS PREMIUM subscription plan in more than 150 countries around the world. Thanks to the integrated SIM card, Tractive GPS works wherever there is mobile coverage.

Do I need mobile service for the Tractive GPS tracker to work?
Yes, for the Tractive GPS tracker to work, there must be mobile service coverage in your area. In general, Tractive GPS works wherever your mobile phone works.

Each Tractive GPS tracker is equipped with its own SIM card; this means the device works in a mobile network independent of your own mobile service provider.

Why does Tractive GPS require a subscription plan?
Tractive GPS continuously sends and receives GPS data through local mobile networks, allowing you to track your pet in real time in more than 150 countries around the world. To make this possible, each tracker is equipped with a SIM card that incurs mobile service fees similar to those of your mobile phone. To cover these costs, Tractive charges only a small subscription fee.

What is the range / distance within which the tracker works?
The Tractive GPS tracker works at any range, unlike other types of tracking devices, and has no distance limits.

Is Tractive GPS waterproof?
Yes! Tractive GPS devices have no SIM card slots or USB ports, so they are not only protected against splashing water but are also fully waterproof under the IPX7 standard (up to 1 metre depth, 30 minutes). This makes Tractive GPS devices great for water-loving pets, and they can of course be used in the rain too.

Can I use GPS for my cat?
Yes! Essentially all Tractive GPS trackers (except the Tractive GPS XL) can be used for cats as well as dogs and other animals. All Tractive GPS devices are made by pet lovers for pet lovers, to help you ensure the safety and wellbeing of your dog and cat friends.

What is the difference between a microchip and a GPS tracker?
Great question! Sometimes a microchip and a GPS pet tracker are mistaken for the same thing.

They are, however, two very different technologies used for different purposes. GPS tracking works over mobile data networks, whereas a chip is a code under the animal's skin that clinics use to identify the owner's details.
